Oh, my it is hot here in the Midwest and I need something cool for the rest of summer. I love this Mood Fabrics’ Pinstripe Linen and I knew it would be the perfect fabric for these wrap pants. Check out all the linen possibilities at Mood Fabrics.
For the wrap pants, I went with Simplicity 8134, pull-on wrap pants or wide leg with length options. Talking about length, I did add some length to my pants. The pattern envelope looked just a bit short of what I was wanting.
This linen has such nice body and boy is it easy to press, I loved sewing with this fabric. It was so easy to press up the hem (front and bottom) on the wrap part. I love the ties, they are just fun and perfect length
Here is the wrap portions, so you can see how they are attached at the side seams
and here, silly face included!
The one thing about this pattern, I went with the finished measurements and made a 12 but I will probably add about 1/2 inch to each side seam. The hips just seem slim but the linen gives nicely.
I have not sewn anything with linen in a very long time, which I am going to correct shortly. I have some stretch linen to use in this same pattern for the short length. This fabric is a joy to sew, press and wear. Yes, it does wrinkle but if you follow these great tips from Sandra Betzina, it will help with those wrinkles.
Since this linen was so fun to sew, I had to use some of the leftover for a granddaughter. Here is a cute outfit from a vintage baby pattern, Simplicity 1813. I had the chambray in my stash and used my embroidery machine to add a bit of cuteness!
