Cotton Voile Summer Top

When talking about the perfect summer fabric, I would have to say this Mood Fabrics’ Thakoon Cotton Voile is about as perfect as it gets.  I love this fabric, it is the perfect summer weight and just was so easy to sew.  In fact, I would love to buy all the fabric that felt just like this piece and sew many, many summer garments. I know when the temperature sores above 95 degrees, I want a summer top that makes you feel cool.  Right when this fabric arrived, I knew I would make it into Simplicity 2892, a pattern I have made […]

The Silk Crepe de Chine Shirt Dress

Lately, it’s been feeling like monsoon season.  Hence the lack of blog posts.  But the great thing about rainy days is that I get to spend guilt-free days indoors sewing. Last month, I decided to try my hand at what my fellow Mood Sewing Network bloggers are old hat at: ordering online from MoodFabrics.com. Within a minute, I stumbled upon this Thakoon cotton, and these decorative coconut shells. It is almost […]

A Silk Sundress

The moment that Mood Fabrics posted a photo of this gorgeous Thakoon Addition fabric on their Instagram account, I immediately found it on MoodFabrics.com and pulled the trigger on the purchase.  I was already in the mindset to make summer dresses, but I was still mentally deliberating on fabric choices.  And seeing this fabric at that exact moment… well, it was just serendipitous. This beautiful paisley print silk crepe de chine was the perfect marriage of fabric and pattern to Butterick 5886.  This fabric is so lightweight, floaty and luxurious.  It was perfect for a halter-style, high-low hem dress.   I […]
