I’ve been needing to fill in the blanks in my closet with classic “go-to” pieces for a while now.  And what better time than transitional wardrobe season with classic black and white. I love white shirts and white blouses.  The more interesting, the better… a not-so basic “basic” you could say. The Abstract Silk Crepe Dress

This is Vogue 8849.  And I used view B. I used this absolutely amazing abstract floral print from Mood Fabrics. The fabric is called Springtime Floral Lightweight Silk Crepe.  And these pictures just doesn’t do it justice.  It was so easy to work with.  Not as lightweight as a crepe de chine.  But it still has a great amount of body and a lovely hand for draping. Draped Aubergine Dress!

For Fall 2012, all shades of purple, plum, eggplant and aubergine are so hot for Fall that I had to embrace that color trend. This dress is New Look 6123.  It’s a juxtaposition of views C & D. I used a Ralph Lauren silk crepe de chine from Mood Fabrics.  It’s listed as “purple.”  I like to refer to it as “aubergine”.  It’s a pretty deep purple that looks almost navy or eggplant… depending on the lighting.  This fabric is gorgeous and it was a dream to work with.  And the drape is incredible.
