A Silk Crepe De Chine Topper

The Holiday Lights are up on our block! I believe this is what I’m enchanted by, but it’s anyone’s guess. There’s no questioning the fact that this silk has me bewitched. Meet my new favorite top. Blouse? Dress? Topper? Let’s go with topper. This beautiful silk crepe de chine print came home with me on a whim, the kind of instantaneous pick you make after 60 minutes of scouring the fabric aisles. You know how it is, after all that searching and second guessing, a bolt just jumps out at you, and it’s done and dusted in 60 seconds. (If […]

To be quite honest, I think sewing is making me more stubborn, yet, more patient. Both pieces in this combo were intended as something completely different than their outcome. First up, the jeans jacket, which was meant to be a peplumed affair, Simplicity 1919. Designer Menswear Fabric for a Little Girl’s Dress

The menswear suitings call to me from the the pages of the Mood Designer Fabrics website.  All the houndstooth, herringbone and plaid patterns make me giddy even though I have no plans to make a men’s suit anytime soon. Gray Herringbone Suiting, Plum plaid Suiting, Beige Plaid Suiting, and a Khaki Houndstooth all made it to the final cut and I knew a little girl’s dress was the project to make. I settled on this Ralph Lauren wool houndstooth suiting sight unseen (which had me a little worried since I’m such a tactile fabric purchaser) along with a few […]
