A Sequined Mermaid Costume for Halloween

Though I haven’t been able to make much time to sew lately, I was very motivated to make my two-year-old daughter a mermaid costume for Halloween this year. I can’t remember now whether the idea for the mermaid costume came from her or me. But, as soon as it was out there, I couldn’t let it go. Starting the Holiday Sewing with Mood Pale Gold Sequins

I’m posting a second project on the same day.  Why… because I was not all together pleased with how this top turned out (first choice for October post.).  I wanted to achieve the same dramatic affect as the tops drawn on the envelope.  The problem is not the fabric or the pattern but the combination of the two.  This pattern required a fluid knit. A Glitzy Neoprene Maxi Dress

I refuse to let summer go. It’s still warm enough for sandals, for crying out loud! And yet, the siren song of Fall Fashion seduces…so I married a summery maxi dress with an autumnal neoprene. Truly, a great “transitional” fabric. I don’t believe I’ve ever seriously used that word in my life. Does this mean my closet is growing up? Growing up?! I WILL NOT HAVE IT! SEQUINS.
