Gold Stripes and Ivory Creme – Vogue 8747 and McCall 5818

I’m so happy to final post about this shirt that I made with Mood’s beautiful Italian Amber Striped Cotton-Rayon Shirting.  This is one gorgeous textile.  And I’m not just saying that because I’m a Mood blogger.  This is a definite must have fabric; you should get it!     The title color is “amber”, but I call it gold.  The online photo does not show the richness of the colors nor does it show the luster.  The sheen is not gaudy like some ultra shiny satin fabrics.  It’s luminous with gives an air of sophistication.  The striped pattern [...]

Wool Gabardine Trousers and Comfy Tops

One of the joys of being self employed is that I often get to work from home or have a bit of down time between contracts to stay at home and sew! If I’m working at home I’m sure going to take advantage of the opportunity to dress as comfortably as possible but I’m a big believer in keeping a getting up and dressed as if you were going out to work routine anyway as I think this really helps with productivity. Plus answering the door to the postman in PJs at 3 in the afternoon on a Wednesday (yes [...]

Graphic Print Tunic

Isn’t it fun when a fabric just draws you in?  That is exactly what happened with Mood Fabrics’ Indigo Peacock-Inspired Rayon Woven.  I knew I needed to make something from this fabric and a tunic was the garment I started to envision.  I went with Vogue 9151 and started looking for an good coordinating fabric.  Mixing prints is so much fun, I searched Mood Fabrics for a good match.  Sometimes online it is hard to get a good color  match for fabric as colors look different on the computer screen versus in real life!   I decided to look for [...]

Breezy Rayon Dress

Hi, guys! How’s everybody doing? I hope you’re all well! Today’s project is a good example of the sewing I’ve been doing this summer… fun fabric in a simple shape. Fussy sewing and fussy garments just aren’t very fun in the heat! So when I picked out this rayon print from Mood Fabrics NYC, I just wanted to keep it breezy! The fabric has a delicious crepe-y texture, and it’s ever so slightly sheer. Do I want to wear a slip in the summer? No. So, I went with a voluminous shape to counteract the transparency of the fabric. I [...]

Rag & Bone Blue Crepe Quart Jacket

I was really intrigued when I spotted this Rag & Bone Navy/Blue Cotton-Rayon Crepe in the new arrivals section of the Mood Fabrics website! It sounded so unusual being of a medium to heavy weight yet fluid. I’d been after something unique to make myself a biker style jacket after seeing Pauline Alice’s amazing short version of her Quart Coat so decided to take the plunge for this month’s Mood Sewing Network project and order myself enough of this to investigate. When it arrived it was kind of what I was imagining and kind of not…whatever it was it was [...]
