Gold Stripes and Ivory Creme – Vogue 8747 and McCall 5818

I’m so happy to final post about this shirt that I made with Mood’s beautiful Italian Amber Striped Cotton-Rayon Shirting.  This is one gorgeous textile.  And I’m not just saying that because I’m a Mood blogger.  This is a definite must have fabric; you should get it!     The title color is “amber”, but I call it gold.  The online photo does not show the richness of the colors nor does it show the luster.  The sheen is not gaudy like some ultra shiny satin fabrics.  It’s luminous with gives an air of sophistication.  The striped pattern […]

Black & White Lace Easter Dress

I got started on my Easter dress early this year so I wouldn’t run out of time like I usually do. I fell in love with this Pamella Roland designer Vogue pattern the minute I laid eyes on it. I had to have THE EXACT SAME DRESS as the example on the envelope. When it arrived it was kind of what I was imagining and kind of not…whatever it was it was […]

Vintage Wool Crepe Dress

Y’all. Can we talk about wool crepe for a minute? I just love this stuff to tiny threadbare pieces and I wish everything I made had a wool crepe option. I love the spongy texture, the glorious drape, the magical body-temperature-regularity (yay, wool!), and the COLORS. Truly, everyone should have at least one experience rolling around in a uncut length of wool crepe. Especially if it is a jewel-toned wool crepe. Ooh la la. For my first Mood Sewing Network project, I wanted that experience to include wool crepe. I have a beautiful 1940s Simplicity pattern that I knew would […]
