Red Ticking Stripe Cotton Seersucker Fabric equals the Perfect Cotton Shirting!

I was doing a closet purge and closet organization and realized I was short on tops. I always feel like I’m missing out on great tops to just throw on with a pair of jeans, so I’m on a mission to fill in that hole in my wardrobe.

This top is Simplicity 8455. I decided to used Red Ticking Stripe Cotton Seersucker. It makes a wonderful and interesting shirting fabric.

Being that this fabric is 100% cotton, it cut and sewed like a dream.

This fabric worked well with a lightweight fusible interfacing in places like the facing and the cuffs. I have a newfound love for this interfacing.

Making narrow hems in places such as the split sleeves was so easy because of how well the fabric pressed.

The cuffs with the bow ties are such a cute detail.

And if you’re using a design that has neck binding,

you definitely want a fabric that will go with the flow.

And the necktie makes a perfect accessory since a necklace isn’t needed!
