Floral Eyelet For Fall

In an effort to get some casual everyday wear into my extremely gussied-up closet, I snagged this warm reversible cotton eyelet at Mood Fabrics online.

Despite the impressive size of my mouth, I’m at a loss for words… although this project was involved, it went together simply and relatively quickly. A shirtdress with a princess seamed bodice, pleated front skirt…

And I guess you’d call it a gored back?  Next time I’d throw some pleats in the back skirt too, the pattern (Simplicity 2222 vintage) only provides for the front. Helps with the casual vibe, I suppose.

Perhaps that’s what’s got my tongue? I don’t know what to say when the taffeta and silk and velvet flocked denim isn’t flowing… but I did add some bling. Cranberry red binding for the seams, and a shocking orange satin undercollar, and lavender pearl snaps down the front. None of which you can see at the hands of my beloved photographer, but I promise to include some gutsy shots on my blog later this week!

I actually do love this print, it makes me dance around. That’s a casual win in my book. And, I’m aware that this is a far cry from a casual print…whaddaya think, should I try a solid version?

It is time to start sewing for fall, isn’t it? It’s hard to believe the end of the summer is almost here! This fabric is perfect to welcome in the fall season. Also, I like the silhouette this pattern gives you, and I actually really like how the pleat less back flatters.

i think that’s my loss for words too, i hate when summer leaves! and the pattern is billed as a “slenderette,” i bet that’s the reason for missing back pleats.

Ooooo so autumnal! I love that it’s still a fun print (I’m not sure how I feel about solid colored Oona…?) with lots of great colors, but the pattern is more of a ‘day dress’ kinda vibe.

This is the absolute perfect ‘day wear’ fabric and look for you! I really love this dress and your lavender snaps and satin under collar sound scrumptious, you have a great eye for the details that make a garment extra special

It hard to believe that you are heading into fall and I’m heading into summer but we are sewing the same sorts of things! I really love this fabric – fabulous choice and I particularly like the belt with the fabric. Nice job!
