Enveloped in Cotton Voile

I had one eyebrow permanently raised to skyscraper height the entire time I was stitching up these wrap pants.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  I actually prepped this pattern, Simplicity 4192, last summer in a hotel room in Dallas, but never tried it out.  Then, fellow MSN’er Peter went on a streak of menswear that gave me haute couture hives each week.  Suddenly, I HAD to have a pair of wrap pants.  It was like I had never seen a pair of wrap pants before.

I stalked Mood Fabric’s shelves of voile, the same shelves Herr Peter frequents.  There sat the bolt of fireworks cotton!  There, the plaid!  I was inches away from a full on copy, but in a rare instance of appropriate behavior, I snagged this cotton voile instead.  (Try these beauties online.)

I LOVE THE WAY THOSE LEGS KICK OUT!!  My left eyebrow settled back into its normal position once I put this outfit on for pics, and then lifted again in glee when the wind started picking up the voile.  I see more of these in my future (though I’ll probably deduct the added waist height I so intriguingly inserted back in Dallas.)

Obviously, you can’t have a House Of Boldness knockoff without a jacket.  This By Hand London blazer has made an appearance here at MSN before, but I reworked it… the double faced neon green neoprene lapels & cuffs have been removed.  Now the neon flashes like a surprise!  A warning, even!  GET OUT OF THE WAY!

I did so want to get a black eyelet tank top in to complete the trio, but hey… we can’t all be Peter.

That outfit is TOTALLY you — or is it me? — or me if I were you… Which I’m not, at least I don’t think so; perhaps a little. Love the outfit. Let’s hear it for floaty spring pants!

I have a wrap pants pattern somewhere from the 1970s….seeing yours makes me want to dig it out again…and in cotton voile? Who would have thought? How do you deal with the sheer factor? Or is there enough coverage?

Amazing! I don’t think I would have ever considered owning wrap pants but now I feel like I must! Especially in a fabric as gorgeous as this
