Denim Like Twill – Fall Wardrobe Builder

Fall is here and I don’t have enough casual wear in my wardrobe!  So this season I’ll work on beefing up my casual wear.

A nice pair of jeans are a perfect start.  I found the absolute perfect Mood fabric.  Check out this cotton denim like twill.  It is gorgeous. The description  states that it has a softer hand than denim, which is true.  But I’d like to add that it feels buttery like a suede clothe.  It’s great against the skin and moves gracefully with every step.  This is a must have fabric for fall casual wear.

The color is listed as black.  It’s more like a charcoal gray.  I
wore a black shirt to show the difference in color.  I wish it came in
more colors. hint, hint.  Dear Mood can you find more colors please?

I paired it with McCall’s 6610, which offers two styles. This is the second time I’ve used it. It won’t be the last.  I like the options of the inside small pocket and the leg variations.  The next time I make them I’ll swap out the straight waistband for a curved one for a better fit across my sway back.

With a few more little tweaks, this will be my TNT jean pattern.  It has all the elements of a solid pair of jeans and is a good starting point for a custom fit/style.  So give both, the fabric and the pattern a try.  You won’t be disappointed.

Happy Sewing!

Very Cute. Thanks for showing the fabric color so well. I have never worn jeans since I was kid and that has been a long time. So I’ll have to give your pattern a try.

Thanks Carolyn. You should give them a try. There is nothing like custom made jeans.

Fantastic job Cenetta!! I love sewing jeans and I’m just in awe of your lovely work on these! I can see these getting a lot of wear since they are not a classic denim color they could swing easily from more casual looks to the workplace!

Those jeans are gorgeous & GEORGEOUS on you! What a fantastic job. It is amazing what a difference perfectly fitting jeans make. We get so used to wearing something that is “OK” that when you see the real deal it is truly inspiring! Custom fit jeans are on my list!

Thanks, Peter. I thought a little color and texture would enhance the look of the outfit.

Is there nothing more fabulous than a great pair of pants. I confess I am a major casual jeans wearer. I really love the crossover tab on the back of the waistband. You make the fabric sound positively delicious.
