Fur & Pleather Pleasure

IS MOOD CLASSIN’ ME UP OR WHAT.  This is my third non-technicolor dress!  Second in black AND white!  I am going to name this combination Rejectnocolor.  It rejects color!  Especially of the Technicolor genre!! But close up, this fabric from the Mood Fabrics NYC store is just as insane as any Oz-toned yardage.  Behold: Lookit the furry amazingness!  LOOKIT!!!  Yep.  This was another one I ran around the store with, unwilling to lose sight of its three dimensioned deliciousness for a moment. Editor’s note: This ivory faux fur with an embossed reptile print in black is also one of our favorite […]

Little Bouclé Dress

I don’t really know what hit me. Let me rephrase. This black bouclé hit me like a freight train, I seized the roll, hugged it to my breast, and dragged it around the third floor of Mood until Kway and Eric assured me I could leave it by the cutting tables, it would be safe. YOU KNOW I WORRIED ABOUT IT, LIKE BAMBI’S MOTHER, TILL THE FIRST SNIP. There was no need for concern, the third floor is truly a piece of heaven. And apparently they filter something mind-altering into the air up there, as I not only chose a […]

Snuggly Sweater Dress

Mimosas and Mood Fabrics on Saturday, Sazerac and Steelers on Sunday, and Sweater Knit to fondle all weekend.  Monday was a cruel mistress. Need inspiration?  Stuck in a rut?  If you can, hightail it to the second floor on Mood Fabrics NYC.  It’ll cure ya.  I never know what I’m going to find up there, but I always walk away hugging something fiercely.  Like I’ve just won a prize that must be guarded with my life.  This poly sweater knit is sooooo soft, which only added to the hugging factor.  I believe the tag said it was from Italy. Is […]

Denim & Velvet Wiggle Dress

ARGH THIS DRESS TOOK FOREVER!  At one point, I told Ruggy this might be the longest I’ve ever spent on a dress. Really, I’m not sure, because it was started in Texas and finished in New York…travel plays tricks on the mind… I ordered this delicious medium-weight denim & velvet flocked yardage from Mood Fabrics online back in late July.  It seemed totally appropriate for the middle of the summer.  That’s sarcasm. But the fabric is amazing, it has a bit of stretch to it, and the velvet looks almost CGIed. It was meant for a maxi dress, but then my eyes fell on […]

Silk Chiffon Slugger

Well.  Hello there, Tuesday.  Hello there, leg partially en-clad in whisper thin Silk Chiffon shot through with gold metallic thread.  I thought we’d never meet. Many tried to keep us from our scheduled match.  But this Labor Day weekend, I did little else than labor on you. There wasn’t much of you to begin with.  Just three yards.  But those few floaty inches had a sting like a bee.  I had to sacrifice some print matching for sure.  It took me five hours to adjust my stance against your grainlines, though your metallic crossgrain did help. Let’s face it, you […]

Silk Dresses To The Instagram Power

Could mugs like these be up to anything good?  I answer with a happy NO.  Peter, resident photographer in mid-laugh over the level of our gin infused delight, would probably agree. At the moment, these sisters-in-cocktails are all quite sober.  One needs a little sobriety for the staggering amount of French seaming and blind stitching going on across the country.  Over the next few days, this wee chunk of MSN are all in Silk, and all in the same pattern. Why did we decide to tackle this self-imposed mini challenge?  You may put the blame squarely on the dreamy filtered […]

A Mountain Of Jersey

There are clothes that women love on women, there are clothes that men love on women, and never the twain shall meet. Well, the fairer sex can usually go both ways, but the harder sex, if you will forgive the pun, can’t get behind certain styles: High waisted jeans. Bubble skirts.  Gathered waists. Drop crotch. So obviously, being away from Ruggy, I am consoling myself by making the things he will undoubtedly dislike, and reaping the praise of the female company I’m keeping at work. Is this to spite him? No! Never! Look, if my man’s not here to compliment […]

Firecracker Cotton

This Fourth of July, I decided to go a bit less literal. I’ve tried the red, white ‘n blue route before, but the outfit usually ends up doomed to the costume section of my closet (there’s also a cow print skirt in there for when I have to audition for the role of Hooker With A Heart Of Gold).  So when I saw this symphony of Italian stretch cotton color online at Mood Fabrics, I gleefully jumped into four yards of firecracker. I had previously pounced on a double face neoprene as well, found in-store at Mood Fabrics NYC […]

A Summer Circle Quilt

No, I have not taken up quilting.  I gots ZERO time for quilting or knitting. Much respect to those with the patience for it!  Instead of working on that virtue, I let Mood Fabrics do the heavy lifting for me. I stumbled upon this panel yardage of quilted goodness when lurking the jersey aisle. I know, I know, my self imposed ban should have set klaxon alarms off, but a wee stroll on the wrong side of the tracks never hurt anyone… and the junctions of each aisle hold the strangest treasures. This beauty was a mere $14/yard, and as […]
