Black and White Italian Cotton Woven Pants

Yes, it is another pair of pants, I just can’t help myself. I love this Burda pattern, well this time is is a combination of Burda 7447 and Burda 6981 (using the cut of the legs only).  Truthfully it isn’t really the pattern, it is the great fabric at Mood Fabrics, I can find something wonderful all the time.  Take this Italian Cotton Woven     Something about black and white, just draws me in, so classic in nature.   After wearing each Burda pattern, I decided I really like the fit and cut of Burda 7447 and the leg […]

Print Mixing Top and Track Pants

During my day, I love to head over to Mood Fabrics’ online store and check out the what’s new section, which is updated quite frequently. It is such a nice break in my day and I can contemplate all the fabrics and what they might become. After I browse for a day or two, it is time to shop!  I tend to shop two different ways when looking at all the fabric goodness at Mood Fabrics.  My first way is with a specific garment in mind, which in this case led to these two fabrics in my cart, the first […]

Skirt, Top and Bomber Jacket from Tracy Reese Inspiration

Deciding on a designer for this month’s challenge was a bit difficult for me but when I viewed the collection from Tracy Reese I knew this one was for me. I liked her bright colors, interesting details and fun fabrics. My plan was three pieces that would work well together, a skirt, top with a neckline detail and a bomber jacket. That plan changed to three separates to stretch my spring wardrobe, The fabrics played an integral part in my challenge pieces, which was heading in a different colorway until these three fabrics were in the new section at Mood […]

Navy with Gold Brocade

This outfit started with two different fabrics ordered 3 months apart, first I ordered this Mood Fabrics’ Blue Gray Solid Suiting, thinking it would be a jacket but the fabric is lightweight and it sat on the shelf while I contemplated what it would become. I washed this fabric on gentle and felt it would be a perfect blouse, dark navy with gold buttons. I wanted a dressier blouse pattern and fitted, so I went with a favorite, Butterick 5526 I found this Mood Fabrics’ Elegant Italian Brocade in my cart and soon on my doorstep. I knew what I […]

Poly Taffeta Anorak for Spring

I have a confession to make, I love to make jackets, from outerwear to blazers to cardigans. I love to have a closet full of outerwear options for any kind of weather condition. So when this Mood Fabrics’ Soft Floral Outerwear appeared online, I knew it had to be shipped to my home. Recently, I have been trying to change my online shopping habits. You see I am very impulsive and visual, once the fabric picture draws me in I hit the order button like I am under hypnosis. To rectify this impulsiveness, I have started reading all the fabric […]

Perky Stretch-Cotton Pencil Skirt

This winter has been a very long and very cold one for much of the United States and I for one am getting quite tired of it. So if I can’t beat the cold temperatures, my wardrobe can add some warmth to winter. Color…. bright and bold to counteract white snow and gray skies. For the brightest and bold color, I picked Mood Fabrics’ Nanette Lepore Orange Retro Print Stretch Cotton. It is just a mid-winter’s dream. I love this pop of color and it gives me hope spring is coming (only 40-some days away). My pattern for this fabulous […]

Sweater-Knit Cardigan

You know those days when you need comfort foods? Well, some days I feel like I need comfort clothes—and for those days what’s better than a sweater knit? Online at Mood Fabrics there is quite a selection of sweater knits. After much deliberation, I ordered Mood Fabrics’ Mallard Blue Brushed Cozy Acrylic Knit, with blue being one of my favorite colors. For the pattern, I went with Simplicity 2309, a cardigan with a wide collar and a flounce at the bottom. This fabric is the coziest and oh so warm. It’s perfect for these cold winter days in the Midwest. […]

Canvas and Faux Leather Messenger Bags

When Colette Patterns released The Cooper Bag, I knew I had to make it. I really enjoy making bags, something relaxing about the construction. I think it is the straight sewing, lots of topstitching and occasionally, I just like not having to fit. And with daughters who are twins in college, I couldn’t get away with making only one! Canvas and faux leather are some of the recommmended fabrics, which particularly appealed to me. Mood Fabrics’ Beige/Silver Sparkle Canvas was my main fabric choice, which in person has more of a gold look. And my contrast fabric is Mood Fabrics’ Brown Solid […]

Ruffled Blouse Made With Anna Sui Silk Jacquard

How can it be the end of 2013?! This year has flown by and I feel very blessed to be part of the Mood Sewing Network. I know my sewing skills have grown tremendously, new techniques have been tried and fabulous fabrics from Mood Fabrics have been used. As I was planning my next Mood project, I realized my wardrobe was lacking a silk blouse. That led to my next project using Anna Sui Blue Sapphire Silk Jacquard. I went through several pattern options and selected Simplicity 1779, view E with the neck ruffle…. …and the long sleeves with the small cuffs. […]
