Comfy fall sweatshirt in quilted cotton knit

These fashion sweatshirts have been popular for the last few years, and I have finally gotten around to stitching one up. I enjoy making garments that are interesting and different from what I find in department stores, and none of the thicker knits I was seeing really caught my eye. That is until I saw this awesome quilted cotton knit at Mood fabrics. (It has just recently sold out but they have other interesting quilted fabric, though currently none with stretch.) I loved the subtle city buildings at night print and the texture, and only needed to order a yard. […]

Oscar de la Renta Taffeta Dress

What do you get when you cross an Oscar de la Renta Taffeta with a Kay Unger pattern and a left-handed seamstress? I’ve got something slightly different to the usual completed projects I share for you today. To celebrate the opening of Mood Fabrics NYC’s brand new showroom for home decoration fabrics the Mood Sewing Network bloggers were invited to do an extra home related sewing project for the network. I’ve been wanting to brighten up our lounge for a while now and what better way to […]

This month I have an extra MSN project to share – a home dec project in celebration of Mood Fabric’s new space dedicated to home dec fabrics.  If you live in or near the NYC area, hopefully you’ve already had a chance to pop in and see it in its full glory.  Sadly, since I live 3000 miles away, I’ve only been to Mood’s online home dec shop.  The online store is pretty impressive on its own though with thousands of fabrics to choose from. When Mood approached me about doing a home dec project, my […]

Pink Pleated Dress Cowgirl Style

You know when you just see fabric and you have to have it?  That is the case with Paradise Pink and Rosewater Geometric Cotton-Polyester Jacquard (now say that three times fast!).  This fabric just kept saying “buy me, buy me” and so I did.  Initially, I was thinking some kind of pants or shorts for me but the fabric was a bit too bright for me.  I knew this gorgeous fabric would find its way to the perfect garment.  I had purchased Butterick 5781 with Meredith (daughter #3) in mind, as I knew it  was the perfect style for her, […]
